Desert Willow Press is an independent press that specializes in poetry chapbooks and literary magazines. It was born from three beliefs: (1) the work of many talented artists has gone undiscovered; (2) the world is a better place when the work of talented artists is given a forum; and (3) there is inherent value in tactile, print media that screens have not replaced. The work we publish is by and for people who take their time to enjoy creative, reflective, and insightful artistry.

Desert Willow Press’s namesake is the common name of the Chilopsis tree—desert willow—which grows naturally in Mexico and the American Southwest. The desert willow’s inspiration comes from the colorful markings inside its flowers, which guide bees into the tree’s pollen source. Likewise, great poetry guides the reader into life’s pollen sources, of which there are many, including truth, beauty, conflict, and authenticity.

We hope you enjoy what we print.
